American luger Kate Hansen’s warm up routine is something to behold.
She loves dancing to “Strictly Beyonce” as a pre-run ritual.
“She just gets me fierce and I get stoked and I just have to (dance). I have good mojo going on so it’s just how I roll,” the luger says.
She may have come in 10th at the Sochi games but Kate is nothing less than a star. In 2008, she became the youngest Junior World Champion at the age of fifteen. She has been on the National Team since 2007 and recently won the USA Luge National Championship in October 2013.
During the race, Hansen won with combined time of 1 minute, 29.601 seconds, while having a broken foot.
She’s pretty OK with her not-so-awesome performance at the Winter Olympics.
Hansen feels it's not about the greatness you take from these Games, but the gratitude you leave behind. "I will be so thankful for this moment for the rest of my life," she said. "This moment is what people talk about in all those movies, what people dream about, it's all real, and I'm just so grateful."
She has rightly been called ‘Sochi’s most charming athlete’.
