Legendary Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski has weighed in on the war against ISIS.
The former Olympic coach is also West Point grad and former coach of the Army Cadets so he does have a bit of street cred when it comes to the military. However, many are weighing in on social media and don't like their sports mixed with politics.
In remarks at the Association of the U.S. Army conference last month, Krzyzewski told a pro-military audience that Obama has disrespected the U.S. Army by not using its infantrymen to fight ISIS.
Coach K went on to explain why he thought Obama’s public announcement that he won’t use ground troops against ISIS was bad coaching. It allows the other side to stop preparing for it and gives them added confidence.
He then compared Obama’s words to a basketball game saying, “‘Hey Spain, I’m not going to start Lebron and Kobe tonight.’ I don’t think you do that.”
This isn't the first time Coach K has criticized Obama. In 2009 Obama picked North Carolina to win the NCAA Tournament. The Duke coach said, “the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets.”
Twitter, of course, didn't let his remarks slide and "Coach K" quickly began trending
Glad Coach K finally weighed in with his thoughts on ISIS. Maybe Ebola and immigration will be next.— Nu Wexler (@wexler) November 4, 2014
Dear Coach K: Please understand how deeply ironic it is for you to criticize *anyone* for not having an inside game http://t.co/aAi2pAdUGb— John Flowers (@MrJohnFlowers) November 4, 2014
