June 6, 2014: Win the game before the game. While the entire planet has its eyes fixed on the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

While the entire planet has its eyes fixed on the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil – which starts from June 12 and ends on July 13 – players are preparing for “the game before the game” in Beats by Dre’s new feature-length advertisement.

The spot not only stars soccer greats like Neymar, Luis Suarez, Robin van Persie, and Cesc Fabregas, but also features other sporting legends such as LeBron James and Serena Williams, including surprise cameos by musicians Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.

It focuses on how every athlete faces an internal mental battle before facing an opponent in a massive event such as the World Cup or the Wimbledon tennis championships.

However, the mega sporting event is not the only highlight of the new ad.

After Apple Inc. announced a $3 billion acquisition of Beats Electronics and Beats Music last month — a deal expected to be finalized later this year — it’s the first time ever that the headphones company prominently featured an iPhone 5s in a promotion campaign.

The Beats by Dre video comes almost a month after Nike released its ritual FIFA World Cup advert featuring a big chunk of soccer royalty from around the world including  Christiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovi?, Gerard Piqué, Gonzalo Higuaín, Mario Götze, Eden Hazard, Thiago Silva, Andrea Pirlo, David Luiz, Andrés Iniesta, Thibaut Courtois, and Tim Howard.

While Nike and Adidas usually come up with the best World Cup-themed commercials, it seems that Beats by Dre has kicked their butts at their own game.
