Things heated up in the National Football League (NFL) as Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith accused St. Louis cornerback Janoris Jenkins of trash-talking about his wife.
Smith grabbed the opportunity to get back at Jenkins on Sunday when the Panthers topped the Rams in a heated 30-15 win.
ESPN reports that Smith pointed his finger towards the Rams cornerback after scoring a touchdown in the third quarter. Later, a “profanity-laced tirade” against Jenkins was unleashed in the locker room after the match, a part of which has been captured on camera in the video below.
Though he didn’t specify what was said about his wife, here is what Smith offered as an explanation of his feud with Jenkins:
“What I don't like is a young guy who comes in, who obviously his first time ever using the Internet and Google, and he Googles information about me, talks about my wife and stuff like that. That's just some of the b------- I just don't play with.”
The Panthers’ wide receiver tweeted the following after his team’s victory against the Rams:
I'm just being honest... Hahahahaha Pow pow #RamsUp— J.Jenkz (@JjenkzLockdown) October 20, 2013
Smith also issued an informal warning to Jenkins in his post-match interview.
“When you try to take it personal like that, I don't have any great humbling things to say. So he can take his a-- back to St. Louis and watch the f------ film, 'cause I don't play them games.”
"And if I see him on the street, I'm going to bust him in the f------ mouth,” he said.
