Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Devon Still had everyone in tears at the 2015 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles with his powerful speech on behalf of daughter, Leah.
Still and his 5-year-old girl, whose story has inspired many over the past year, were honored with the Jimmy V. Perseverance Award for their unwavering strength in the little girl’s battle with cancer.
Since Leah Still couldn’t make it to the ceremony due to treatment following her remission, her father delivered a moving speech highlighting all the ups and downs their family faced after finding out about the girl’s disease and how he wished he were the one going through the pain rather than his daughter.
“I am here today to let y’all know, as long as I have this platform I’m going to continue to fight for y’all,” Still said during the heartfelt speech.
The award was presented by LeBron James.
