“That’s Awesome, Baby!” See How Dickie V’s Colleagues Celebrate His 35th Season On ESPN

35 years ago, Dick Vitale called his first ever college basketball game for ESPN, which was then, a newly formed 24-hour sports network.

Now, more than 3 decades and 1,000 games later, Vitale called his last game between Kansas and Florida. That Dick Vitale is synonyms with the sport, goes without saying. He is known for his knowledge and passion about the game. He is also very well known for his unique style and enthusiasm which everyone lovingly refers to as ‘Vitale-isms’.

ESPN Executive Vice President, Production, John Wildhack said, that, “Dick Vitale and college basketball go hand-in-hand,” adding that “ESPN is fortunate to have had Dick be part of our team for the last 35 years. He is truly a PTP’er and one of our industry’s most successful and popular personalities ever.”
