Women’s gymnastics all-around champion Gabby Douglas with her awesome performance was able to win gold medal for United States. But, wait a minute, what is wrong with her hair?

The 16-year-old was a little confused when she logged onto her computer after winning her second gold medal in three days and actually discovered people arguing about her pulled-back look. Seriously?

The first gymnast to win gold in team and all-around competition Gabby said: "I don't know where this is coming from. What's wrong with my hair?”

"I'm like, `I just made history and people are focused on my hair?' It can be bald or short, it doesn't matter about (my) hair."

Obviously the most appropriate platform for all critics of the world today to bark all the nonsense today is Twitter, and critics in the case of Gabby were no exception.

One user wrote: 'Gabby Douglas gotta [sic] do something with this hair! These clips and this brown gel residue aint it!'

No doubt some of these tweets must have really been confusing for Gabby, it is important to mention here that this is nothing new. Female athletes have for long been discouraged on the basis of such irrational and baseless reasons that are only targeted to ruin their self-confidence.

Just a couple of days ago a British weight lifter Zoe Smith silenced all Twitter bullies who dubbed her as ‘bloke’ and ‘lesbian’ by lifting twice her body weight during the 58kg Weightlifting event.

It is commendable to see that Gabby is unmoved by all these useless comments has been able to carry on with her superb performance. Because for the young athlete, the best answer to critics and Twitter bullies is through performance.

However, once Gabby was done with this, a new challenge appeared in front of her, this time by Fox News. Following her gold medal performance the news channel had one burning question. How is the athlete showing her patriotism if her uniform lacks stars and stripes?

The focus of their discussion was Gabby’s hot pink outfit and why American athletes aren’t wearing any outfit that shows their patriotism. Once again Fox News proved that it has no more brains than the idiotic Twitterati who criticize someone for no reason.

What they completely ignored to realize is that if an athlete wins a gold medal for her country, it is definitely the best gesture of patriotism. If for Fox News, it’s all about patriotism, what can be more nationalistic that an athlete walking home with a gold medal for his country? Pray answer that.
