But South Carolina’s defensive end Jadeveon Clowneydelivered what apparently is the biggest hit of the college football season. Clowney torpedoed Michigan’s running back Vincent Smith, dislodging both the ball and the player's helmet.

Smith's helmet went one way and the ball towards another. With Smith still under him, Clowney reached out with his left hand and grabbed the ball.

"What a hit! Ball is free... on the ground," ESPN commentator Mike Tirico shouted.

"South Carolina deserves to have it... and they do!"
