Years of anticipation, preparations, and 16 eventful days brought London Olympics 2012 to an end.

No doubt, the events started with a show that will be remembered for a long time. But when the 16 days of games and competitions came to an end, the celebrations surpassed all extravaganzas! Bringing together the likes of the The Who, Spice Girls, Pet Shop Boys and the memories of legends like Lennon and Queen, it was a night to remember if for nothing else but it! Here are our highlights!

Most attractive feature of the evening were no doubt the fireworks that took the breath away.

Definitely followed by the bright, brilliant and out-of-this worldly firework display was none other than the reunion of the Spice Girls after four long years. Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm and Melanie Brown won the viewers over with their presence as well as performance.

Another colorful performance was that of Russell Brand atop a magic bus. His appearance seemed to be thematic as all the major performers made their appearance on one sort of vehicle or another including, cabs, cars, rickshaws, trucks and even a ship!

One Direction is permeating the music scene faster than any one could have imagined or still can. But would an event be complete without them?

The phoenix that hovered over the dying flames of Olympics almost as if predicting another such mega event on the British soil after this successful one was represented by Britain’s top ballerina Darcey Bussel.

As all good things, the Olympics came to an end. A powerful, mega eventful end, full of noise, music, cheers and celebrations.

As the flame died down, Britain got ready to unwind after  months of energy, chaos and anticipation, handing over the responsibility of the next mega events to Rio de Janeiro.
