Hair-raising footage shows Australia’s former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber’s Porsche 919 Hybrid slamming into the wall after it collided with Italy's Matteo Cressoni’s Ferrari. The car crashed with 28 minutes to go in the season-ending race.
The crash took place during the Six Hours of FIA World Endurance Championship at Sao Paulo Brazil.
Webber was reported to be OK but has been transferred to a local hospital for additional precautionary checks.
The 38-year-old Australian quit F1 last year after a 12-year career and nine grand prix wins.
A statement on Webber's website said he was hospitalized for additional observation.
“Mark was taken to the medical center and has later been transferred to a hospital in São Paul. He is in a satisfactory condition and will stay overnight for further checks,” read the statement.
