Not even a Hollywood script writer could have penned an ending that perfect for Derek Jeter.
In his final home game for the New York Yankees, "Captain Clutch" took the center stage one last time, and hit a walk-off single to give his side a 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Jeter's game-winner immediately sent the crowd in rapture as his teammates rushed on field to lift him on their shoulders. Such a reaction, the huge applause that greeted that feat, has probably not been seen since Michael Jordan hung his sneakers for the last time.
