A powerful body kick, some punches and 66 seconds were all Rafael dos Anjos needed to stop fan-favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC Fight Night in Orlando — the fastest finish in Lightweight Title fight history.
“I’m so happy,” the Brazilian fighter said after the win. “I just proved that I’m in this division to say. … It’s just the beginning of my career.”
"Cerrone is a great opponent,” he added. “The guy won eight fights straight. It's not easy to do this in the lightweight division, but I have the best team. I am surrounded by great people."
He also addressed — and warned — his next potential opponent, Conor McGregor, who knocked out rival Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds in the opening round of UFC 194 last week.
“Hey, Mr. McGregor, if you want to come to the lightweight division, this is my division; it’s better to stay in the featherweight division,” dos Anjos said. “I will fight you in Brazil. I will go to Ireland to face you there. Wherever you want, I’m here to stay.”
