UFC champion Ronda Rousey was named the Best Fighter ESPY Wednesday on the 2015 ESPY Awards red carpet, beating out Floyd Mayweather – despite his historic victory over Manny Pacquiao in May.
While accepting her award, the beaming winner took a moment to take a jab at Mayweather, who once said he did know who Ronda Rousey was.
“I can’t help but really say that I wonder how Floyd [Mayweather] feels being beat by a woman for once,” Rousey said. “I’d like to see you pretend to not know who I am now.”
Apart from Mayweather, female UFC bantamweight champion Rousey beat other male contemporaries including Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and boxers Gennady Golovkin and Terrance Crawford.
It’s not the first time Rousey took a shot at Mayweather over his long history of domestic violence – which includes six charges and two months in prison.
In May, when Rousey was presented with the question if she thinks she can beat Mayweather in the ring, she replied: “Well, I would never say that I can't beat anyone, but I don’t think me and him would ever fight, unless we ended up dating."
