Stanley Cup: New Jersey Devils stay alive, beat Los Angeles Kings 3-1 in Game 4

The New Jersey Devils are alive.

Adam Henrique — taking a pass from David Clarkson, who was almost the goat — lifted the New Jersey Devils to a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, preventing a sweep of the Stanley Cup final.

It was the third game-winning goal for Henrique, a rookie, in the post-season. Clarkson made the key play to keep the puck in the Los Angeles zone, atoning for a penalty he took that led to L.A.’s lone goal.

Game 5 is set for Saturday in Newark as the Devils attempt to become the second team in NHL history to claw back from a 3-0 Cup final deficit. The 1942 Leafs were the first.

The Kings missed out on a chance to sweep and claim the Stanley Cup at home. The Kings — now 15-3 in the playoffs — have lost three Game 4s.
