The English town of Dorking, Surrey is home to a strange type of foot race in which men and women carry each other in strange postures, and then whichever couple is the first to the finish line is declared the winner.
Aptly-titled the UK Wife-Carrying Championships, this unique sport's seventh annual installation has begun, and despite what the name suggests, you don't have to be married to your partner to carry her in the race. To be eligible, the participant must at least weigh 50 kilograms though.
But the carrying your partner bit isn't the only strange thing about this dash. The race is over a hilly 380-meter or 415-yard course, which features 'over the straw-bale' hurdle obstacles, plus a splash zone.
Footage from the race can be seen in the video posted above.
