One of the world’s best tennis players, Serena Williams, does not usually lose matches. So when the tennis queen unexpectedly lost to underdog Roberta Vinci on Friday — crushing her hopes of winning the Grand Slam — fans quickly looked for a scapegoat and her boyfriend, rapper Drake, became the unlucky target.
Drake has a history of being bad luck for athletes supposedly jinxing the University of Kentucky Wildcats and his hometown team, the Toronto Raptors, simply by rooting for them. So unfortunately for Williams, bad-luck charm Drizzy decided to support his girl at the US Open Semifinals. Once fans remembered the great Drake Curse, Twitter set off a firestorm of burns in light of Williams’ stunning loss.
