The boys play their heart's out we cannot help the stupidity of the referees. Gr8 season let's come back & get them next year.— Emmitt Smith (@EmmittSmith22) January 11, 2015
The Twitter-verse is exploding this morning after Sunday night's controversial call that sends the Green Bay Packers to the NFL semi-finals.
Check out video of the spectacular catch and roll into the end zone:
Was it actually a scoring catch? The refs said "yes" but the Packers challenged the play. The touchdown decision was overturned and Green Bay went on to win 26-21. The packers will advance to the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks.
The officials got that Dez Bryant no catch wrong. Just cost them boys their season— Brandon Browner (@bbrowner27) January 11, 2015
Dez Bryant took the high road, acknowledging that the refs followed the rule but agreeing with many that it should be changed.
as I went to the ground I rolled over and I tipped the ball to gain better control.. We lost and I accept it but please change that rule— Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) January 12, 2015
NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino attempted to explain.
Bryant going to the ground. By rule he must hold onto it throughout entire process of contacting the ground. He didn't so it is incomplete.— Dean Blandino (@DeanBlandino) January 11, 2015
Catch or not, one thing is sure: officiating will always be called into question in any sport.
