Apple on Wednesday weighed in on the uproar over claims from hacker group AntiSec that it breached an FBI laptop computer to nab 12 million unique identifiers linked to such devices as iPads and iPhones.
"The FBI has not requested this information from Apple, nor have we provided it to the FBI or any organization. Additionally, with iOS 6 we introduced a new set of APIs meant to replace the use of the UDID and will soon be banning the use of UDID," Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said.
AntiSec, the hacker group associated with Anonymous and LulzSec, on Tuesday released limited information on over 1 million Apple customers. The hacker collective claims it was gathered by the FBI. The FBI denies any involvement.
