Dave Goldberg, CEO of SurveyMonkey, founder of LAUNCH Media and husband to Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, died from severe head trauma while on vacation in Mexico on May 1. Goldberg was found lying next to a gym treadmill, having clearly fallen and hit his head on the machine. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. Goldberg was 47 years old.
Sherly Sandberg remembered her late husband in a touching tribute she posted on Facebook on Tuesday. In the post, she remembers the 11 "truly joyful" years the pair spent together. The post has been liked by over 287,000 people including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The Harvard alumnus married Sandberg in 2004, with whom he has two children. The New York Times reported that his death was confirmed by SurveyMonkey, a site known for its web-friendly survey technology.
However, in a bizarre public relations attempt, The Four Seasons resort in Punta Mita where Goldberg died denies the high-profile death.
An AP report stated:
The Four Seasons, however, issued a statement saying the incident did not happen on any of its properties and that David Goldberg was not registered as a guest in any of the resort’s rooms, villas or residences.
