The bigger game here is to get most of what a smart phone does out of the pocket and onto the body. Google has already made a stab at this with Google Glass. There’s a problem with Glass, however, and that’s that it inspires a lot of hate. People are already frustrated with the magnetic pull of the smart phone, and how it seems to command more attention than the external world. To have it in front of one’s eyes literally all the time takes the leap from obnoxious to offensive.

Not so with a smart watch. With watches already something that people wear without drawing any double takes. A smart watch seems like a helpful addition to something that already exists, not an obtrusive sci-fi invention that screams of self-importance.

Funny what a little change in location can do.
