Groundbreaking Partnership: Twitter And Women's Advocacy Group Aim To Stop Abuse

Reporting Twitter harassment just got a easier. Twitter is addressing the rampant harassment of women on its platform with a groundbreaking new partnership.

The nonprofit Women, Action & the Media, known as WAM, has created an online form for people to report abuse and threats on the Twitter platform. If the incidents seem credible, WAM will take the reports to Twitter.

When women face a flood Twitter threats and take time to report the harassment, they've often found themselves at a dead end. Some never hear back from Twitter representatives at all.

Now, users are invited to use a simple form to report incidents to WAM! In their press release, WAM explains how it works:

WAM! will escalate validated reports to Twitter and track Twitter's responses to different kinds of gendered harassment. At the end of the pilot test period, WAM! will analyze the data collected and use it to work with Twitter to better understand how gendered harassment functions on their platform, and to improve their responses to it.

Here's hoping these positive steps will lead to greatly decreased online abuse of women.
