Google is such a vast company with its tendrils in so many projects and industries, that it’s hard to get a sense of everything that Google does. This video starts to give you a sense of what they’re up to. In addition to being the dominant search engine and the owners of YouTube, which, according to the video, gets a decade’s worth of video content every day (!), Google has made acquisitions in robotics, quantum computing, artificial intelligence and the smart thermostat and smoke alarm company, Nest.
But it goes beyond that. Google has mysterious barges in four locations around the world, a plan to bring 3G internet to parts of the world that don’t have it using balloons, and, well a lot of stuff we don’t know about. Google, like a large country, is always going to have pockets and goings-on that we don’t know about. Whatever they’re up to, hopefully they’ll remember their motto, “Don’t Be Evil.”
