Artist Illustrates How To Build A Human: Astounding GIF

The artist is known for her stunning explaining science in a simple way.

A beautiful GIF posted on Reddit inspired this artist to create an image showing how babies are made. (Don't worry - it's rated "G"!)

Eleanor Lutz writes:

"I made this using 44 animations that are 9 frames each. That's 396 sketches total - probably the most complicated GIF I've made so far."

She continues, "I am a little sad that I wasn't able to show size properly though. For example. the 24 week fetus is about 40 times heavier than a 12 week fetus (but you can't tell that from this drawing)."

Lutz, a designer in Seattle has a popular blog, Tabletop Whale.  She also has a Bachelor's in molecular biology and used to work in a research lab teaching mosquitoes to fly through mazes.

She makes her infographics and charts in Photoshop and Illustrator, usually with a Wacom drawing tablet. She continues, "Most of the infographics are based on reputable scientific sources like textbooks and peer-reviewed research papers."
