Japan’s Underground Bicycle Parking Technology Is Unbelievably Cool

Bicycle chains and missing tires are a thing of past.

Bicycle parking might be an issue in many countries, but Japan has solved this problem fin the best way possible.

The video posted above depicts a man using an elevator like mechanism to park his bike. The system, known as “Eco Cycle Anti-Seismic Underground Bicycle Park,” was developed by Japanese engineering company Giken Seisakusho Co.

The underground parking lot can hold more than 200 standard bicycles at a time and takes about 13 seconds to park a bike. The mechanism is operated using a card system, which costs about $15 a month.
