Video of Pope Benedict XVI Sending First Ever Tweet On An iPad During Website Launch
You know your social media website is getting big when the Pope is using it – as is the case with Twitter, which Pope Benedict XVI used Tuesday to send out his first ever tweet from his private office at the Vatican, using an iPad no less.
The tweet was used as an announcement of the Vatican’s new news portal, news.va, and read as follows:
“Dear Friends, I just launched News.va Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI”
Nice first tweet, Pope. Way to use Twitter to your advantage.

Ok, so he’s probably never used an iPad before, and the tweet was actually prepared for him beforehand (just requiring a quick push of the “send” button from the Pope) but it still represents a web-savvy trend the Vatican has displayed for years now – including the launch of an iPhone app and even making possible the ability to Facebook the Pope.
