Samsung Sends Customized Galaxy S3 To Fan In Exchange For Dragon Drawing Is A PR WIN!

One never thinks it’s as easy as it is!

Back in May, 26 year old Shane Bennett from Canada wrote to Samsung from his Facebook page. His post went something like this:

Hello, I have bought many Samsung products. I currently have a Samsung LCD TV, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung laptop. I was just wondering if I could get a free Galaxy S3. I have attached a picture of a dragon I just drew for you.

Samsung’s rep replied immediately to Shane and their reply went something like this:

Thanks for inquiring about scoring a free Galaxy S III. Unfortunately if we gave a free S III to everyone who asked, we'd probably be out before they ever went on sale, and we'd go under as a company. That being said, your drawing of the dragon is epic, so we're returning the favor. Please find attached a drawing of a kangaroo on a unicycle.

You’d think the story would end on this amusing exchange right? Well, not really.  Shane posted the exchange along with a screenshot on Reddit – which is pretty much the front page of the internet and the post was immediately brought on the first page. But that wasn’t all too.

Several months later, the individual who was keeping in touch with Shane sent him a message to expect a phone. Shane was giddy just at the thought of it. However what he didn’t know was that the phone was going to be a one-of-a-kind, customized Samsung Galaxy S III – the only one in Canada – with his dragon drawing on it!

Yes you’ve read that right. Samsung went ahead and personalized a single Galaxy S III especially for Shane! Not just that the packaging they did was also customized for Shane!

Suffice it to say that Shane was overjoyed and promptly went back on Reddit to post the spoils of his Facebook request! The title of his Reddit post was titled “Well, Samsung Canada has won me over again.” Reddit link here.  We think this is a huge victory for Samsung despite their recent troubles with Apple, – with one (quite awesome we add) customized phone, they’ve won legions of fans.

Oh and when Shane was asked why he sent Samsung the Facebook message that earned him the customized Galaxy S III, his reply was. "I was bored and I love the phone.” Yes, you read that right too.
