A lot of excitement was generated over Sunday’s supermoon, with people across the web sharing their photos in droves.
A supermoon occurs when the moon becomes full at the closest point in its orbit to Earth, called a perigee full moon. The latest supermoon was 12 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the one we saw earlier in the year in January 2014 or in June a few months ago.
Another supermoon is expected on Sept. 9 and will be the last until Sept. 29, 2015.
