Baby Wallaby Burrowing In Dead Mother's Pouch Will Break Your Heart

Is there anything more heart-wrenching than an tiny animal not understanding its mother is dead?

With a tough road to survival, rock wallabies are close to extinction today, and many end up victims of road kill. 

That's what happened recently in north Queensland, Australia, where a baby wallaby was seen sucking hopelessly on his dead mother's nipples as ants and insects fed on her body.

A passing cyclist Chris Rishworth noticed the heart-breaking interaction and decided to take the little animal to a Wallaby Refuge where the owner said she was “fine physically but a very frightened little girl.”

The marsupial was lucky enough to have received the care and attention and is on the road to recovery.
