Bachelor parties are both a celebration and a rite of passage. A night to remember for mostly good reasons, and the bad reasons you remember it for are somehow the most fond. A group of Norwegians, on their buddy’s figurative “last day of freedom,” took him for an unforgettable experience: they arranged for him to bungee jump blindfolded!
Or, he thought he would bungee jump blindfolded!
The bachelor party made good on the blindfolding part, but the jump was a little shorter than advertised. The Norwegian groom-to-be is carefully helped over a sawhorse, which he probably thought was the barrier at the edge of a bridge. He has a harness on with a rope attached, and his friends are carefully walk him through each step of the process. Everyone does a very impressive job of not laughing, at least audibly.
At last it comes time for the big jump (starting around 1:45 of the video). The groom is freaked out, because he thinks he’s about to jump blindfolded off a bridge. Many millennia of evolution are telling him not to. His main spotter gives him a “1, 2, 3!” and a gentle push…but he’s not ready. He needs to gather himself. Then again, “1, 2, 3!” but no, he doesn’t quite have the courage. Bachelor party attendees are starting to get restless as they walk around trying to not laugh. Then at last, “1, 2, 3!”
He bungee jumps!
Directly into a kiddie pool!
Bungee jumping will have to wait for another day, but good times and rite of passage? Achieved.
