Batman bin Suparman is a real person just like you and me.
Batman bin Suparman is a real person, but he is not like either of his namesakes, because now he is in jail. How is anyone actually named Batman bin Suparman, you ask. Well, he’s from Singapore, and Suparman is actually a very common name there. “Bin” means “son of” (as does the Irish “Mc” and the Scottish “Mac,” and for that matter the “son” in names like “Johnson”).
As for the Batman part of Batman bin Suparman, that’s a little weirder. Batman is not a common name in Singapore, and it is possible that his parents chose that name because they thought it was hilarious. (Parenting tip: name your kid something funny, there will be no negative consequences.)
Batman bin Suparman had already achieved some internet fame based on his name, prior to his arrest. There is a Facebook fan page devoted to Batman bin Suparman, which has no pictures of the 23 year-old Singaporean, but many pictures of Batman and Superman. The page has been liked by 11,547 people, which ain’t bad as far as fan clubs go.
Batman bin Suparman was arrested on drug and theft charges, and sentenced to 33 months in prison. He was caught trying to steal money from a shop and use his brother’s cash card. If only a caped crusader would fly to the scene and teach this wayward youth that crime doesn’t pay. Perhaps he could monetize his internet fame somehow. Some people are born special, and hopefully one day Batman bin Suparman will come into his own.
