A man who went blind one year ago has proven that any disability can be overcome with effort and a little ingenuity. An Illinois man posted pictures today onto Reddit explaining how he managed to solve a Rubik’s cube despite not being able to see. The man modified the Rubik’s Cube by attaching his daughter’s plastic gems, and Velcro onto the cube so that he could “feel” the different colors.
As you can see in the pictures linked above, the Redditor glued a small flower emblem onto all the green squares, a half-globe gem onto red, and different sizes of Velcro onto orange and blue. Once the man was able to accurately associate each texture with a color, all he had to do was figure out how to solve it.
That took him about a year. Rubik’s cubes are still really hard.
As a next logical step, the blind man plans to run for office in Illinoi’s 82nd district (The fighting 82nd!) The man’s amazing Rubik’s cube feet has given him the platform he needs to garner support, as well as promote his PAC.
I don’t know if solving a Rubik’s cube while blind indicates any sort of political knowhow, but it does show the man’s ability to impress people on the internet by doing cool stuff.
