Collective Cadenza is back, but this time, for a cause. Taking a break from history lessons, Charles Yang, Michael Thurber and Eddie Barbash set up a street performance called ‘the Human Jukebox’ where they play violins as people put money in jars with ‘Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Bach, Slow down, fast forward and ‘?’ labels on them.
People in the streets enjoy the music while these musicians speed up and slow down or change artists in rapid succession each time the jars get filled. And towards the end of the video, we see where all that money is being donated: Wingspan Arts in New York City, a non-profit organization that aims to expose diverse and young groups of people to the arts.
