A Colorado deputy came across a new kind of suspect on her beat outside of Boulder: a baby owl who stared down the cop, refusing to move from the street.
The deputy was driving near the small town of Nederland when she and a colleague were stopped in their tracks by a baby owl.
The deputy approaches the small bird on the road and tries to get a response by asking, "Hi, what's up?" The baby owl just stands its ground as it looks wide-eyed at the deputy.
"After curious head-twisting on both sides, it flew safely away," the Boulder County Sheriff's Office tweeted with the hashtag #DeputiesLoveBabyOwls. The sheriff's office said the cute encounter took place in the area of Rainbow Lakes Campground, a few miles northwest of Nederland.
