Skier Narrowly Misses Camera Drone Falling From The Sky

As if watching out for slippery surface and sudden swerves wasn’t enough for skiers, the sports enthusiasts now face an additional threat.

Four-time reigning World Cup overall champion skier Marcel Hirscher was starting off his second run during a slalom race in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, when something totally unexpected happened.

As the skier made his way down the slope swerving and turning at different angles, a drone recording the sports event crashed to the ground, narrowly missing Hirscher.

Hirscher, who seemed totally unaffected by the crash, made his way to the finish line and only later learned how close of a call he had.

"This is horrible," Hirscher told the Associated Press. "This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury."

The drone could have caused serious injuries or caused a massive fall for the skier. This incident goes to show that necessary precautions must be taken in order to avoid similar accidents in future. Skiers already have enough pressure maneuvering themselves on slippery surface. It is unrealistic to expect them to be watchful of objects falling from above.
