For an item as goofy and declarative as condoms, it’s surprising that most companies tend to keep their marketing as low key as possible. Any condom on the market is ensured by regulations to be as effective as pretty much every other condom, and it’s not like any particular brand feels much different than any other. That’s why it’s exciting to hear that Durex has taken a major step in condom culture by teaming with Daft Punk to release a new brand of “Get Lucky” condoms.
Get Lucky is still tearing up radio stations nation-wide, and is, presumably, a song about stay up all night to enjoy an evening of safe, consensual sex with a partner. The song’s subjective terminology makes it a perfect match for Durex Condoms.
The condoms will come in a box based off the album cover of Daft Punk’s new album. In the picture, a silhouette of Daft Punk and singer Pharell can be seen. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure the condoms are just condoms. It would be pretty rad if they were made of robot material, but that seems expensive and dangerous.
Daft Punk condoms are merely the latest consumer item from the popular electronic group. Daft Punk action figures are also on the way, and the two have already starred in several animated movies related to their songs. Considering “Get Lucky” is the first song to reach a million copies this year in the UK, there is no doubt that more Daft Punk merch will be on the way.
