When Melissa Dohme was 20 years old, her ex-boyfriend Robert Lee Burton, Jr. stabbed her in the face and neck 32 times.

EliteDaily reported that the following three weeks, Dohme's heart stopped four times, but staff revived her each time. Two years after the incident, she will marry Cameron Hill, a first responder, who helped to save her life.

"It was so bad. You couldn't tell she was blonde . . . for some reason, I didn't think it would be the last time I was going to see her," Hill said.

Hill attended a church service where Dohme spoke and soon after, they began dating.

After Dohme's recovery, she decided to bring awareness to domestic violence in her hometown, Tampa, Florida. Because of her diligent advocacy, the Tampa Bay Rays recently invited her to throw the first pitch for a game.
