Jimmy Carter Shakes Hands With Every Passenger Aboard Flight To DC

by
"Who expects a president to be on their commercial flight, let alone making an effort to greet every passenger?” said one excited passenger.

Passengers on a June 8 Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta to Washington, D.C., had a very famous fellow passenger: former President Jimmy Carter was also on the same plane.

The friendly ex-president made things a little more exciting when he stood up from his seat and went up to each and every passenger and shook hands with them.

Passenger James Parker Sheffield recorded a video of Carter going around greeting everyone and uploaded it on Twitter, where of course thousands of internet users liked, shared and commented on the clip.

"I was definitely shocked. Who expects a president to be on their commercial flight, let alone making an effort to greet every passenger? Everyone seemed genuinely excited and the overall sentiment was that it was really nice to have that kind of moment where party or politics didn't matter.

"He didn't say much, because he was also trying to be mindful of the flight needing to leave, but that smile said everything for him. He was very authentic in his interaction with each individual," Sheffield added.

He further compared the friendly encounter with the former president to the current political situation and in one tweet stated that America seems deprived of a president who actually acts like one.

Here’s what Twitter users had to say, using the hashtag #jimmyisthebest:
