Starting college is exhilarating and terrifying. You imagine the best. You imagine the worst. What you probably don't imagine is something this poetic.

One year’s tuition at Ball State University:  Not cool.

Sinking a half-court free throw in front of all your new college peers: Cool.

Sinking a half-court free throw in front of all your new college peers, thereby winning a semester’s tuition, not to mention the immediate acceptance of the people who could make the next four years fun or totally not fun: Priceless.

Okay, more like $9000-ish dollars, but that’s not the point. The point is that young Lemuel Turner had one single shot-in-the-dark, and very little chance to make it. But skill, hope, and maybe a little bit of sheer dumb luck got him that winning shot.

Is this why the word "baller" came into being? We think so.

College isn't cheap, guys. This is a vicarious win for anyone who's been, going, or smack-dab-in-the-middle of it. We know what that financial struggle's like.
