The image above is almost the last photo freelance nature photograph Atif Saeed ever shot. Saeed spotted the male lion from a distance in a safari park in Lahore, Pakistan. He moved closer to capture the lion’s majestic stance.

“I was thinking — I must show the character and status of lion and this was the only way I could think of to achieve this,” Saeed said in an interview with the Daily Mail.

The lion heard a few clicks of the camera and was not happy about having his picture taken.

He charged aggressively at Saeed and the photographer escaped into his car parked 10 feet away.

Saeed told the Daily Mail he "was laughing at that time, but now when I think back about the incident I don’t think I would be able to do it again. It was a pretty close encounter."
