In 1947, Life magazine challenged 10 contemporary comic strip artists to draw their comic characters while blindfolded. How difficult could it be, right? After all, these artists had drawn the very characters hundreds and thousands of time in their lives.
You can be the judge of that:
Despite being all over the place, the sketches are pretty accurate, aren’t they? The features are all there and they match. One can identify the blindfolded versions without looking at the originals.
As it turns out, these artists could draw them blindfolded, just not as accurately.
