If you’ve ever considered renting out your home through Airbnb, maybe you should rethink the decision after a Calgary couple rented out their house for a weekend only to find it trashed by Airbnb renters.

Mark and Star King rented out their Sage Hill home to four people they believed were attending a family wedding but came back to a scene described by police as a “drug-induced orgy.”

The Kings have rented out their home before and never experienced any trouble. They found their renter, a man in his 40s, on Airbnb and were confident their home would be safe with him.

Yet after receiving phone call and texts from neighbors, the couple returned home to find their house turned upside down with piles of trash, food, cigarettes and mysterious stains in the carpet.

“The neighbors reported a party bus and upwards of one hundred people in our house,” Mark told the Calgary Herald.

The two-day orgy party started Saturday night right after the Kings handed the keys over. The estimated costs of the damage totaled to about $50,000 to $75,000. Fortunately, Airbnb policy covers the cost of damages done to a host’s home. The Kings expect full compensation.
