"Check, Please!" is a restaurant review show in several cities around the country. The premise is that locals all eat at the same restaurant and then chat about it on the show. It's enjoyably innocuous local fluff.
In 2001, a state senator named Barack Obama was on Chicago's "Check, Please!" Even then, one can see his political skills. He picks a not-too-fancy local crowd pleaser. Eventually the dark mark of intellectualism would stick to him, but it would take another 6 years and national exposure.
One has to wonder if Obama longs for the days where his hardest interview question was what he had for dinner.
