Last week, North Korea released unretouched photos of officials including military leaders. Needless to say, the internet had a field day.

In a political gesture that is unprecedented for the isolated country, the North Korean government shared a series of unretouched portraits of government leaders.

Here, on the left, we have what is supposedly an actual likeness of the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un, complete with his double chin, freckles, chubby cheeks and yellow-stained teeth.

Perhaps to counter the intense propaganda accusations that the country repeatedly incurs, they thought that releasing actual likenesses would somehow make the malicious government more trustworthy. According to the BBC, the North Korean state department denies that this is the first time they have released unretouched photos.

All of the pictures which were released are of male leaders, which is slightly surprising considering that the vice-director of propaganda is Kim’s sister, Kim Yo-jong. Yet, there are no pictures of the female party officials. Maybe they were having a bad hair day.

As is inevitable, internet geeks took to Photoshop to distort Kim’s features, producing an array of ridiculous portraits.

Other images depict Kim’s nose as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Spongebob. The photos can be found across Reddit, Twitter, and Bored Panda. The internet just can’t take Mr. Kim seriously.
