A Chinese robber has been jailed when he was caught attempting to escape capture after driving off with a policeman clinging to the bonnet of his car.
He received a 12-month sentence after trying to make a getaway and refusing to stop for two policemen at a checkpoint in Xuancheng city, east China.
After being pulled over for having no number plates, the driver was in no mood to surrender, refusing to get out of his vehicle.
He was undeterred by one policeman's presence blocking his path and promptly hit the accelerator, taking the unlucky officer, who jumped on the bonnet to avoid being run over, with him.
His time on the run didn't last very long however when a passing SUV blocked the highway 200 metres down the road so police could make an arrest.
The reckless driver, who didn't have a driving licence, was later charged for robbery and handed a prison sentence after removing the car's license plates to avoid being identified.
Ironically it was the missing number plates which finally helped police capture the runaway criminal.
