Banksy inspires many people, but for this man, he was literally a lifesaver.

Jamie Scanlon could have ended up ruining his life. But he pulled himself together and took another go at it. His story is a real life tale of success.

He was saved from ruin by the mysterious master of art Banksy – the (in)famous graffiti artist and political activist.

“I got into street art in 2009 after visiting Banksy’s excellent museum exhibition which inspired me to face up my problems with drinking and drugs,” he says.

“I replaced all that buzz with illegally painting, although the greatest part is people liking my work and being able to feel as though I’m giving something back to the world. Here is a selection of some of my works,” he adds.
