Flying thousands of feet above the earth with a mere jetpack strapped to his back is nothing more than a morning stroll for the legendary “Jetman” Yves Rossy.
The daredevil hobbyist and Guinness World Record holder has flown in his carbon fiber-winged jetpack above Rio and the Arabian Desert with his protégé Vince Reffet — and the duo came together once again to push the boundaries of aviation to the next level.
Injecting a little more excitement into an already adrenaline-fueled activity, the jetmen accomplished a seemingly impossible feat by sharing the skies above Dubai with Emirate’s Airbus A380 — the world’s largest passenger airliner.
Rossy and Reffet flew at around 4,000 feet above the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai skyline — an airspace the duo are quite familiar with. The latest stunt was really just a commercial for Dubai's Emirates airline, but that does not mean it was anything short of incredible.
“While the formation flight looked effortless on film, painstaking planning and meticulous collaboration with an intense focus on safety drove all efforts,” the duo wrote on their website.
It took the jetmen more than three months to prepare for this high-speed, high-altitude flight and while the whole stunt was quite dangerous, the aviation enthusiasts executed it in the most mind-blowing way.
