Christmas is a time for celebrations and joy shared with loved ones. People plan ahead and make sure they are with friends and family on the occasion. Those who cannot be with their families are sorely missed and indeed the event is never complete without them; a great chunk of the happiness remains missing.
Christmas is a time for families to come together and celebrate the holiday season, but it must be difficult for those individuals who are away from their loved ones. Even the families left behind must miss them terribly and feel that the Christmas spirit is incomplete.
For soldiers and security personnel, it must be a particularly difficult time of year as they yearn to be with their families, but one of them got a surprise Christmas gift from a little boy. It surely must have brought a cheer to his holiday and made the solider feel that his sacrifices were greatly appreciated, even by people who don’t know him.
Overwhelmed by the surprise gift, soldier and Redditor, Slayfire122, shared it online.
Here it is; in his own words and images:
I come home at the end of my shift to see this on my bed.
On top of the box was an index card with a drawing
It brought a tear to my eye. Especially since I won't be home for Christmas this year.
It had a message on the back
The cookies are a good bonus too.

Now isn’t that the sweetest thing you have seen?
