Heart-warming footage posted on Facebook by the Orem Police Department in Utah has gained immense popularity for the sweet gesture it captured.

A single dad accompanied by his 2-year-old daughter had to attend a hearing at a Utah county court. When the time of the hearing approached, the man didn’t know what to do with his child who wasn’t allowed into the court room. However, a kind Utah cop who understood the man’s plight stood up to the occasion and offered to look after the child.

The dad was at a loss of words at the kind gesture made by Officer Kevin Norris of the Orem Police Department.

"You'll see from the court surveillance video that the little girl took to Officer Norris as he walked her around, getting drinks of water and treats from the deputies at the front door," the department posted on Facebook along with the footage.

The officer seemed to hit it off with the little girl as he showed her cartoons on his phone, and soon enough she fell asleep on his lap.

"You can tell that Officer Norris is a father first and police officer second!" the post continued.

The incident just goes to prove that some people go beyond what is expected from their job to help others, and while many bad cop stories circulate on the Internet, there are certainly other good people out there.
