If you’re going to break the law, you might as well give the cop a good chuckle. That’s what happened when a driver in Washington tried to drive in the carpool lane with a cardboard cutout of the Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World.
The trooper said he instantly realized that it was a fake, but that it made him laugh. A lot of people use fakes, and the fact that it had a face from a nationally recognized commercial didn’t help. And looking at the picture, the driver thinks it’s pretty funny himself.
The driver said to the cop, “He’s my best friend. He just sits here and doesn’t talk.” I love how the driver laughs at himself and doesn’t seem upset at all that he’s getting a ticket.
Unfortunately, this best friend cost him a $124 ticket. After writing him up for the violation, the cop posted a picture of the incident on the Washington State Police Twitter page.
I don't always violate the HOV lane law...but when I do, I get a $124 ticket! We'll give him an A for creativity! ???? pic.twitter.com/hNbQDuBWfc— Trooper Guy Gill (@wspd1pio) March 24, 2015
This driver isn't the only one attempting this fakeout. Someone posted this picture online of their carpool hoax attempt, which might actually be more successful.
