Celebrations Welcoming 2016 Around The World

As the clock struck 12, fireworks lit up the skies around the world, and people engaged in celebrations and rituals to welcome 2016.

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered at landmarks such as Times Sqaure in New York, Big Ben in London, Downtown Dubai and Champs Elysees Avenue in Paris to celebrate the beginning of the New Year.

The onset of the evening saw hoards of people take to the streets as they began celebrations for 2016. While some attended private parties, others congregated at popular places to watch the midnight fireworks and countdown to midnight. Some even engaged in rituals such as praying to the sun for a better year and even indulged in a swimming race.
